MIAMI, FL - March 3, 2021 - (NOTICIAS NEWSWIRE) - In sunny South Florida, 305 is more than just an area code. It’s a symbol of home, roots, and tradition. Thanks to 305 Cafecito® — founders of the city’s official coffee break time at 3:05 p.m. — March 5th (as in 3/05) is now celebrated as 305 DAY® and has become a bonafide cultural movement and annual community-wide celebration!

While the 305 DAY Block Party drew thousands last year, the focus of the 8th ANNUAL 305 DAY is to celebrate as safely as possible with a week full of small business promotions, satellite parties, special offers and live community conversations. This year, 305 DAY supports Miami’s small businesses through a community-wide initiative with over 60 confirmed participants.

Locals can find community volunteer opportunities, parties, special offers, giveaways all in honor of 305 DAY listed on the 305 DAY Community Guide at 305day.miami.

“I am honored to see 305 DAY evolve into such a widely celebrated and appreciated community initiative. Today more than ever we need to focus on supporting our local small businesses. What better way to celebrate the 305 than by supporting the people who make it so special,” said JennyLee Molina, the 305 DAY founder who hashtagged #305day over eight years ago and decided that celebrating annually on March 5th with free cafecitos and pastelitos was a good idea… and it stuck. That’s so Miami!

In 2020, Armando "Pitbull" Perez, Grammy-Award® Winning International Artist, Entrepreneur and Mr. 305 himself became a partner in 305 DAY®.

305 Day History

Since 305 Cafecito’s launch of 305 DAY in 2014, the concept of celebrating March 5th (3/05) has become synonymous with South Florida and our shared community pride. March 5th has become a viral social media trend that celebrates 305 DAY as an unofficial holiday honoring Miami. 305 Cafecito launched 305 DAY eight years ago with a small-scale “ventanita “event at Versailles and the event has evolved into a large-scale block party and small business initiative. This is the eighth year 305 DAY celebrates our shared 305 pride and the unique quirks that make the Magic City what it is today.

About 305 Day
305 DAY ® began as an annual event by 305 Cafecito on March 5, 2014 which has been featured on the front page of the Miami Herald with national placement in NPR, ABC News and Univision. The annual celebration aims to unite the community through events, small business promotions, and provide a sense of pride for the 305. 305 DAY has partnered with brands like Nespresso, Starbucks, Voli 305 Vodka, Pernod Ricard, T-Mobile, Sprint and Toyota — providing thousands of dollars for free community events and beautification projects. In 2013, City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado presented 305 Cafecito with a proclamation honoring 3:05 p.m. as the city’s official coffee break — making Miami the only city in the United States with an official coffee time. In 2019, 305 DAY received a proclamation from the City of Miami. In 2020, 305 DAY received a proclamation from Miami-Dade County. Both on March 5th — of course.
