NEWS: Jose Ramirez, Vlad Guerrero Jr. among 2025 Gold Glove Award finalists

Few feats can wow a baseball crowd like a great defensive play, whether it’s a home run stolen at the wall or a snappy 6-4-3 double play that gets a   pitcher out of a jam — and 2025 had its fair share of spectacular fielding gems.

Finalists for the prestigious Rawlings annual Gold Gove Awards were announced on Wednesday, October 15 with plenty of new and familiar names on the ballot, such as Red Sox rookie catcher Carlos Narvaez and veteran third baseman Jose Ramirez of the Guardians vying for their first piece of hardware commemorating an excellent season in the field.

Three finalists from each MLB team were chosen at every position including pitcher and utility player. The 30 managers and up to six coaches from each team vote for their favorites, excluding their own players.

Here are some of the names up for awards this year.

In the American League: Athletics pitcher Luis Severino, catchers Alejandro Kirk of the Blue Jays and Carlos Narvaez of the Red Sox; Blue Jays first baseman Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Guardians first-sacker Carlos Santana; second basemen Andres Gimenez of the Blue Jays and Luis Rengifo of the Angels; third basemen Maikel Garcia of the Royals and Jose Ramirez of the Guardians.

Outfielders include Julio Rodriguez of the Mariners, Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu of the Red Sox, and Adolis Garcia of the Rangers.

Mauricio Dubon of the Astros, who played every position except pitcher and catcher, made the ballot in the utility player category.

National League finalists include Mets catcher Luis Torrens; Padres right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr., and utility men Miguel Rojas of the Dodgers and Javier Sanoja of the Marlins.

Gold Glove winners will be announced November 2.
