NEWS: Red Sox sign pitcher Ranger Suarez to 5-year, $130M deal

The Boston Red Sox have added free agent pitcher Ranger Suarez to round out their starting staff, signing the Phillies stalwart to a five-year, $130 million contract on January 14.

After eight seasons in Philadelphia, the 29-year-old Suárez arrives in Boston as a proven and dependable starter. In 2024, he posted a 12-8 record with a 3.46 ERA over 150.2 innings and 145 strikeouts after being named an All-Star.

He followed that with another 12-8 campaign in 2025, with a 3.20 across 157.1 innings and 151 strikeouts — career highs in innings and strikeouts.

Over his eight-season career with the Phils, the last five as a starter, the Venezuelan southpaw sports a 53-37 record with a 3.38 ERA and 705 strikeouts in 762 innings. He’s also a solid postseason performer with a 4-1 record and 1.48 ERA.

Boston’s revamped rotation now adds Suárez to Garrett Crochet, Lucas Giolito and veteran Sonny Gray, who was acquired in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals in November 2025.
