THIS DAY IN BASEBALL October 13: Carlos Correa wins 2019 ALCS Game 2 with 11th-inning walk-off HR

Carlos Correa’s walk-off homer in the 11th inning of Game 2 of the ALCS gave the Astros a dramatic 3-2 win over the Yankees on this day in baseball, Oct. 13, 2019.
The no-doubt dinger by the Houston shortstop tied the series at one game apiece and negated a big two-run homer by Aaron Judge earlier in the game.
Correa thrilled the hometown crowd by showboating around the bases during his home run trot adding to another signature moment in the long postseason history between the bitter rivals.
The Astros would go on to win the AL pennant in 2019 but lose the World Series to the Washington Nationals.
It was the third time Houston and New York faced off in the playoffs in five years, with the Astros coming out on top in each series.
Also on this day: In 1971, Pirates outfielder Robert Clemente smacks three hits in a 4-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles in Game 4 of the World Series — the first night game in Fall Classic history.
The Orioles won the Series in seven games, with Clemente hitting .414 with two home runs to win the MVP trophy.
