NEWS: MLB-best Tampa Bay Rays powered by trio of Caminero, Diaz, Aranda

The surprising Tampa Bay Rays remain entrenched in first place in the AL East, and much of the credit belongs to the dangerous 2-3-4 combination of Junior Caminero, Jonathan Aranda and Yandy Díaz.
As the rival New York Yankees stumble through a prolonged slump, Tampa Bay’s middle of the order has powered the club to the top of the division standings over the past week. After Friday’s series-opening win at Yankee Stadium, the Rays are an MLB-best 34-15 and seven games ahead of the second-place Yankees.
Aranda, the 28-year-old first baseman from Tijuana, Mexico, has emerged as one of the league’s toughest outs. He has 8 homers and a team-leading 38 RBI.
Díaz, a 10-year veteran, continues to set the tone with his elite plate discipline and consistent contact, The Cuban DH has 8 home runs to go with 33 ribbies and a .311 average.
Slugging third baseman Caminero, just 22, continues to add thunder to the lineup. The young Dominican star has crushed 13 home runs so far after smashing 45 HR in 2025.
Together, the trio has transformed the Rays offense into one of the American League’s most productive groups. Tampa Bay’s pitching and defense remain strong, but the steady production from the heart of the lineup has been the biggest reason the Rays suddenly look like serious contenders in the AL East race.
